GORDON GOODWIN'S WEBSITE

This is the latest compact disc by this stunning, very entertaining big band. The first I have already reviewed. .

The guest stars on this CD are: Michael Brecker, Brian Knight and Take 6, Eddie Daniels and surprisingly Johnny Mathis! The ensemble swings wickedly, the arrangements are instantly recognisable as Gordon's but hint at being influenced by Thad Jones and Count Basie. The good news is that, as I write the arrangements are beginning to be commercially available and will have your audiences roaring for more, although I doubt anyone will be able to re-create the sound of the Phat Band. I will menbtion just a few of the combatants Wayne Bergeron: Peter Erskine: Andy Martin: Alex Iles: Eric Marienthal; Bob Summers and more.

Johnny Mathis, by the way departs from his smooth ballad style. He gets down and dirty and effectively with this treatment of 'Good Times'

Most styles and a cornucopia of emotions are explored within this recording. It is a relevant JAZZ project as well as having a broader appeal.

Interesting aside! This will be available on DVD Audio very soon. The kast CD was too and it took the listening experience to another level yet again.

I will have stock in the UK as September 2003 begins.
