Scott Walker is out of his era. The tradition of classic big band crooners is alive and well in the Walker household.

A fine singer occasionally reminiscent of the great Jack Jones, Scott has ensured that his considerable talents are showcased properly by being accompanied by one the world's great big bands. This superb group is in fact the Rob McConnell Boss Brass without Rob. On some tracks the effect is enhanced by an excellent string section.

The only thing about this recording that may concern some is the 33 minutes playing time for 10 tracks! But relax, for once this is reflected in the price in Canadian dollars, and the album is very fairly priced. No doubt the fact that the orchestra is one of the world's finest must have influenced the cost of the production and the final production costs. I for one am glad that this CD is out there .

Engineer Phil Sheridan at at McClear Place studios in Toronto is a further guarantee of a great big band sound. Check out the track listing to, a wonderful selection. Recorded in 1984.

Those who dance, those who listen, they are all going to find this attractive production appealing. The fact the orchestra is exception is not wasted. The arrangements, mostly by Jerry Toth are excellent and the band is frequently allowed to break featuring solos by Toth, Basso, Appleyard, Bickert and Ian McDouogall. Straight ahead big band jazz plus sympathetic strings and a classic big band vocalist - a good deal!
