An idea developed over a period time after the almost accidental coming together of woodwind musicians who had at sometime time played in the Herman band. Arrangements were found and it was decided to develope this idea of the 'Four Brothers' recording.
If you can get that unique original sound out of your head, you will find that the ensemble is excellent. The arrangements are certainly in the spirit of the original but not allowing themeselves to slavishly reproduce the exact sound. In fact to my ears the sound has and edge that the original did not have. This may be due to recording techniques at that time. I am inclined to think this is the 'Brothers' as they would be today.
Having said that, those that subscribe to the herman legend may want to this to their collections.
