Octobop

This is the third release by this octet and is best described as smooth and cool. It creates the illusion of friends getting together and blowing. There is an apparent relaxed air to the music that can develop when the pressure is off. Obviously the pressure is not off, the guys are recording, but they don't seem to know it.

'Continuing and updating the West Coast Jazz sound is the force behind Octobop'. The group is led by Geoff Roach who plays baritone and arranges the music; his influences are Miles Davis' Nonet and Gerry Mulligan among others. The arrangements featured on the CD are by Geoff Roach, Bill Holman, Marty Paich and more. the late guardians of what we know and love as the West Coast Sound would be delighted to be associated with this group which improves exponentially with every release.
