I seem to recall 9 albums by Les Hooper over the years. The new CD 'OUT OF THE WOODS' is a welcome reminder of the broad brush approach to writing that he uses. A Hooper recording will rock, will swing, his appreciation of a ballad will move you too. His predilection for farmyard ( chicken ) titles still persists; note POULTRY IN MOTION!!!! The titles usually herald a quirky, staccato, funky composition, one that usually entertains on all levels; this does not disappoint..

For this project Les Hooper has rounded up some fine musicians from the West Coast area and what to us, must be a brand new library. The music refers to his Louisiana roots, his rock and roll beginnings and his respect for what is happening now. Contemporary rhythms and swing ensure a swinging interlude for listeners.

Within this excellent CD are tributes to Quincy Jones/ Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis and Zoot Sims as well as Hooper's own flights of fancy. Hopefully some of these arrangements will be published soon!

The albums is available via Les's website now and from me soon.

Check out the personnel if you need further convincing.
