Although it is not asserted in the liner notes, if there is any big band that should be the " Keeper of Woody Herman's Flame" it is the JFNYBB. It is difficult to think of another band that swings so hard; where you can find soloists who can compliment the energy and style needed to perform the superb composing and arranging talent of the leader John Fedchock.

This is the latest of a collection of CDs by the band that have appeared on on the Reservoir label over the last few years. Every one a blast, every one causing band leaders to cast around for the arrangements in the hope that they can squeeze out some of the qualities that these performances suggest are achievable. I would suggest you start collecting now.
